Good news for wholesalers. The FDA has postponed the deadline for the verification of saleable returns by one year. Instead of having to comply with DSCSA on November 27, 2019, wholesalers have one year longer.
The DSCSA stipulates that wholesalers must first verify drugs that have been taken back, and should be resold. Since both, the wholesalers and the manufacturers, had supported a postponement, the FDA has now reacted. The verification systems are not yet ready to be used.
Nevertheless, many DSCSA points remain to be met by wholesalers by 27 November 2019. There is also the option of voluntarily adhering to the deadline and verifying returns as of this year.
