This year, we celebrated the ten-year anniversary of two employees. Both have been with us almost since the founding of the company in 2013 and have significantly shaped its development. More anniversaries are coming up in the next few years. While this puts us roughly in line with the German average, it primarily shows that our employees are satisfied and feel comfortable here.
Recently, we were recognized in a study by Business Punk as a “Best Employer 2025/2026” in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and medical technology sectors. We’re thrilled about this. Our top rankings in Innovation (95), Culture (83), and Compensation (87) are also reflected in the long-term employment relationships within our team. Ten years at the company? That’s not unusual at tracekey, even though the company itself is still relatively young, having been officially founded in 2013.
Numbers That Speak for Themselves: Employment Duration at tracekey in Comparison
Current data from the Federal Statistical Office shows that in Germany, around 40% of employees stay with a company for ten years or more. In 2019, the average length of employment was eleven years. In companies with fewer than 200 employees, the average is around 8.7 years. A figure that tracekey not only meets but often exceeds. Even compared to the industry average, tracekey performs well: in IT, the average tenure is between 7 and 9 years.
What’s especially interesting: tracekey employs people aged 18 to 60—a true generational mix. Younger generations like Gen Z and young Millennials are statistically more likely to change jobs frequently. They rarely stay longer than ten years in one job. However, at tracekey they do. From age 45 (Generation X) onward, there’s a noticeable shift: here, the average tenure is already between 10 and 15 years. And this diversity is what makes tracekey strong—because experience and fresh perspectives go hand in hand here.
Room to Grow: How We Develop Together
Those who have been with tracekey since the beginning have experienced many phases of development and have likely grown alongside the company. From a young start-up with few employees and hardly any customers to a globally operating company with specialized software solutions that address the regulatory challenges of healthcare companies.
Development at tracekey doesn’t necessarily mean climbing the corporate ladder. We don’t have traditional team leads or department heads. As an agile company working with Scrum, the focus is on self-organization within teams, jointly developed goals, and of course, personal growth. Those with a lot of experience take on different responsibilities, mentor others, share knowledge, and contribute to important decisions. This structure helps everyone feel comfortable and stay with the company long-term.
Knowledge That Stays: Why Experience Is a Competitive Advantage
Low turnover and strong team bonds mean we have real experts here—for our software, IT security, team dynamics, customer relations, and global regulations. This is a clear competitive advantage over companies that, for example, scale up support teams quickly when needed but also have to let good people go just as fast when numbers don’t add up.
At tracekey, we have a wealth of accumulated knowledge, which makes onboarding new employees smooth and efficient. They can rely on both personal expertise and well-documented knowledge. This shortens the learning curve, even for topics that require deep specialist understanding.
What Makes tracekey Different: Culture, Benefits, and Leadership
We don’t just work professionally and effectively together—we also know how to have fun or engage in serious discussions. We’re happy when activities like mud obstacle races, BBQ sessions, or quiz nights are well received and appreciated. At the same time, we foster open communication, collaboratively developed company goals, and regular exchanges to ensure everyone feels comfortable. This helps us grow together, improve, and achieve our goals on equal footing.
We look forward to the upcoming anniversaries next year and to the time we’ll continue growing together.
